Tayo'y Magkaisa

Ang pera ng bayan  ay para sa bayan

Hindi para sa taong ginagawa para sa kamalian

Kaya gamitin natin ito sa tamang paraan

Para ito ay ating makinabangan.

Noong Hunyo 2013 naibunyag ang isang scam

Ito ay tinatawag na Pork Barell Scam

Tumutukoy ito sa pera mula sa taong bayan

Para magamit ng isang mambabatas proyekto nitong local.

Mabuti na sana sa simula

Ngunit  naging mapait ang tadhana

Yung ibang mga mambabatas na iyon

Ninanakaw na nila ang pera ngayon.

Kaya’t tayong mga kabataan,

Kailangan nating manaliksik at makialam

Dahil ito ay malaking banta

Sa ating kinabukasan.

Kaya magka isa tayong  lahat

Para sa Hustisya at katarungan

Upang malabanan ang korupsyong nagaganap

Dito sa ating lupang sinilangan.

How My Brother Leon Brought Home A Wife by Manuel E. Arguilla

          In this week, I liked the story entitled “How My Brother Leon Brought Home A Wife” that is written by Manuel E. Arguilla.

 

     The story started when Leon and his Brother Baldo is waiting for Maria riding a carretela. When Baldo see Maria, she was amazed by the beuty of the woman. Maria was worried in meeting the family of Leon because she was thinking if the family of Leon doesn't like her. Along their way home, Leon was surprised when they took another way. Leon is asking Baldo why they need to passed by in this area but Baldo just ignored his brother’s question. But it all was meant as a test for Maria to see if she could bear the sacrifices she made and show whether Maria could live with Baldo all for love. Maria discovered the peculiarities of the life in Nagrebcan as opposed to their life in the city. While waiting to get home and for not Maria to be bored Leon sing the song entitled ‘Sky Sown with Stars’ which is the one that Leon and his father sang when they cut hay in the fields. After a few seconds/minute Baldo was amazed because Maria joined Baldo in singing the song. When they got home, their father did not welcome them. He was said to be in his room because his leg is bothering him again. Baldo saw his mother and sister Aurelia and Maria in the kitchen who seemed like crying. His father removed the roll of tobacco in his mouth when he saw Baldo and asks about Maria and what happened on their way home. In the end it just that the parents and the siblings of Leon likes Maria for him.

          The story explains the value of respect in accepting one’s life. That one may sacrifice so that what you are dreaming for your relationship will be granted happily. Also it explains that living in the city and in the province can be different in so many ways. Furthermore, the story show how true love must be like what Maria and Leon did just in loving each other that two of them is adjusting to the life of each other. We must also consider the good attitudes that the character show in the story such as being responsible of Baldo to his father.
